Ryan Ambrose Identified as Boy Killed in Portland Car Accident at 102nd Ave and Washington St.

Portland, Oregon (July 12, 2023) – The Oregon State Police has identified Ryan Ambrose as the 11-year-old boy killed in a deadly accident on Saturday night in Southeast Portland.

The deadly accident occurred at the Southeast 102nd Avenue and Washington Street intersection at about 10:20 p.m. on July 8.

According to authorities, Ambrose was an occupant of a vehicle driven by a family member when their car crashed into another car operated by 29-year-old Duprie Smith.

One of the vehicles overturned on its roof following the accident.

Ambrose was taken to an area hospital, where he succumbed.

Smith was taken to an area hospital for treatment. He was later booked into the Multnomah County Jail on suspicion of first-degree manslaughter and DUI.

Police believed alcohol impairment and speed contributed to the accident.
