Kimberly Layne and Douglas Bland Jr. Killed in Tuscon Car Crash on Speedway Boulevard

Tucson, Arizona (July 26, 2023) – Police have identified Kimberly Roxanne Layne, 39, and Douglas Keith Bland Jr., 40, as the individuals killed in a traffic collision on Monday morning in midtown Tuscon.

The deadly accident happened in the 5500 block of East Speedway Boulevard at around 11:30 a.m. on July 24.

Authorities said Layne was driving a Toyota Yaris on Speedway Boulevard when he tried to turn left onto northbound Jefferson Avenue and was hit by a westbound Mercedes-Benz SUV.

Layne and her passenger, Bland Jr., were killed in the crash.

The 81-year-old male SUV driver and his passenger were taken to the hospital with severe non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities confirmed the SUV’s driver was not speeding or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

No more information concerning this collision was released.

An investigation is ongoing.
