Peter Preciado Killed in Bakersfield Accident at California and Chester Avenues

Bakersfield, California (August 23, 2023) – 29-year-old Peter Tony Preciado has been identified as the man killed in a fatal collision last week on Thursday in Bakersfield, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.

The deadly crash occurred at California Avenue and Chester Avenue intersection on August 17.

Police said a northbound sedan was driving on Chester Avenue when it was hit by a pickup heading westbound on California Avenue.

The sedan driver and Preciado, a sedan passenger, suffered serious injuries from the collision.

The two patients were rushed to the hospital. Preciado succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

The pickup driver, Luis Esquivel, 48, of Bakersfield, stayed at the crash site following the crash. He was taken to Kern Medical Center for medical assessment.

Police later arrested Esquivel for murder, driving with a suspended license, DUI, and violating traffic rules.

No other information concerning this accident was released.

An investigation is ongoing.
