VinsnowAraceli Ahumada Velazquez Dies in Sacramento Car Accident on Highway 99 near Highway 50
Sacramento, California (August 22, 2023) – Araceli Giselle Ahumada Velazquez, 22, of Sacramento, was killed in a car crash that happened on Monday afternoon in Sacramento.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Highway 99 near the Highway 50 transition at around 2:22 p.m.
A 22-year-old man was driving a Toyota sedan heading north on Highway 99, approaching Highway 50 interchange.
For unknown reasons, the Toyota driver got distracted and failed to see that the traffic ahead had slowed down.
The man then slammed into the back of a Peterbilt dump truck that was ahead of it.
Velazquez, who was a passenger in the Toyota, and the driver were taken to hospital with major injuries.
Velazquez was later pronounced dead, CHP said.
Two children, a 6-month-old and a 1-year-old, were in the back seat of the Toyota and were not injured.
No other information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
