Kenneth Buren Killed in Tucson Accident on 12th Avenue

Tucson, Arizona (August 21, 2023) – The Tucson Police have identified 77-year-old Kenneth Michael Van Buren as the person Killed in an alleged DUI collision on Sunday morning in Tucson.

The fatal collision occurred on August 20 near 12th Avenue and West Michigan Drive.

According to the authorities, Buren was heading northbound on the southbound side of 12th Avenue in a mobility scooter when he was hit by a car operated by 22-year-old Jorge Elfido Reyes Fajardo.

Police said Fajardo drove left of center and crashed into Buren.

Buren was declared dead at the crash site.

Fajardo was later arrested for felony DUI, possession of a suspended license, and second-degree murder.

An investigation is ongoing.
