Man Killed in Fresno Bicycle Crash on Cedar Avenue near Kaviland Avenue

Fresno, California (August 21, 2023) – A man in his 40s was hit and killed by a big rig on Monday afternoon in Fresno.

The fatal crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on Cedar Avenue near Kaviland Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man was riding a mountain bicycle on a sidewalk heading southbound on Cedar when, for unknown reasons, he entered a traffic lane and collided with a semi-truck.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

CHP said the man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The accident caused a temporary closure of the roadway for about an hour.

CHP is investigating the accident.
