VinsnowIvan Hood Killed in Head-On Collision on Highway 97 in Klamath County
Klamath County, Oregon (July 11, 2023) – Ivan Allen Hood, 26, of Chiloquin, was killed in a head-on collision that happened early Saturday morning in Klamath County.
Oregon State Police say the fatal collision occurred in the southbound lane of Highway 97 at around 1:00 p.m.
Hood was driving a black Chevy Tahoe heading northbound when, for unknown reasons, he crossed the yellow line into opposite lanes and collided head with an oncoming Freightliner Tanker.
Hood was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck driver, Zachary Adam Kerley, 38, of Winter Haven in Florida, and his passenger, 60-year-old Terry Lee Kerley from Bakersfield in California were taken to hospital with unknown injuries.
The accident caused temporarily closure of the highway for about two hours.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
