Darrel Threw and Beth Mackinnon Dies After Harney County Crash on Highway 20 near Milepost 85

Harney County, Oregon (July 12, 2023) – The Oregon State Police have identified 57-year-old Darrel Threw of Montana, 62-year-old James Mackinnon, and  57-year-old Beth Mackinnon, both Orlando residents, as three individuals killed after a deadly crash on Tuesday afternoon in Harney County.

The fatal collision happened on Highway 20 near milepost 85 at about 4:53 p.m. on July 11.

According to police, Threw was heading eastbound in a 1997 Peterbilt and trailer when he drove into the westbound lane and crashed into Beth’s 2023 Freightliner and trailer. The accident caused the vehicles to halt in the westbound lane.

Threw, Beth, and James, the Freightliner passenger, all died from the collision.

Authorities closed both lanes of Highway 20 for approximately four hours following the accident.
