Catarino Guzman and Francisco Lopez Killed in Gervais Train Accident near Keene Road Northeast

Gervais, Oregon (August 3, 2023) –  The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the three individuals killed in a train accident on Wednesday morning in Gervais, Oregon.

The deadly accident happened at about 6:00 p.m. on August 2 near Keene Road Northeast.

Police said a freight train and a vehicle collided for unknown reasons.

Catarino Hernandez Guzman, Francisco Lopez, and Jesus Carrera Avendano suffered fatal injuries from the collision.

One other party, identified as Anselmo Caballero Herrera, was flown to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities closed Keene Road Northeast between Manning Road Northeast and Portland Road Northeast.

The incident remains under investigation.
