2 Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on State Route 85 in Buckeye

Arizona Trooper Injured in Buckeye Collision on SR-85 near Milepost 141

Buckeye, Arizona (June 9, 2023) – An Arizona trooper from the Department of Public Safety was injured after colliding with a wrong-way driver near Buckeye on Thursday night.

The accident occured around 10 p.m. on State Route 85 near milepost 141.

The trooper and Buckeye police officers were looking for a vehicle reported to be traveling southbound on northbound lanes when the wrong-way car collided with the police cruiser and the DPS SUV.

The trooper and the wrong-way driver sustained unspecified injuries and were taken to hospital.

The Buckeye officer was not injured.

Authorities believe impairment was a factor in the crash.

The northbound lanes were temporarily closed after the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
