1 Killed, Another Seriously Injured in Santa Maria Crash on Highway 166 near Chimineas Ranch

Santa Maria, California (July 30, 2023) – One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a collision that involved a motorcycle on Saturday evening in Santa Maria.
The California Highway Patrol says the accident happened around 6:45 p.m. in the 9100 block of Highway 166 near Chimineas Ranch.
The motorcycle and a black Subaru collided under unclear circumstances.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another person was trapped inside the Subaru. The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to the crash and extricated the trapped person before he was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
The collision resulted in the closure of the highway for an unknown duration.
CHP is investigating the cause of the crash.
