1 Seriously Injured in Santa Cruz Car Accident on Highway 129 near Murphy Road

Santa Cruz, California – A driver was seriously injured in a car crash that happened early Wednesday morning in Santa Cruz.

The accident was reported at around 5:40 a.m. on Highway 129 near Murphy Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A 31-year-old Hollister woman was driving a Kia eastbound on State Route 129 when she drifted into the opposite lanes and collided head-on with a big rig.

The impact of the collision sent the Kia off the roadway, where it caught fire.

The driver of the Kia suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Natividad Medical Center.

The semi-truck driver was unhurt.
