VinsnowTwo People Injured in Tonopah Crash on I-10 near Wintersburg Road
Tonopah, Arizona (August 23, 2023) – Two people were injured in a collision involving two commercial trucks on Tuesday morning in Tonopah.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say the accident was reported around 10:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 at milepost 97 near the Wintersburg Road exit.
A commercial truck hauling a fuel tanker collided with a second truck on the highway in unclear circumstances.
The truck that was that was hauling a fuel tanker overturned and about 8,000 gallons of diesel fuel and gasoline leaked.
The driver of the overturned truck sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
A DPS hazmat trooper was also taken to hospital with heat-related illness.
An investigation to determine the cause of the crash is underway.
