Wilfredo Lopez Killed in Corona Car Accident on 15 Freeway at Cajalco Road

Corona, California (September 2, 2023) – The Riverside County Coroner’s office has identified Wilfredo Lopez, 68, of Banning, as the man killed in a two-vehicle collision on Thursday afternoon near Corona in Riverside.

The accident happened a while before 1:00 p.m. on August 31, on the southbound Interstate 15 Freeway at Cajalco Road.

Police said a pickup truck and a sedan crashed for unknown reasons. The sedan overturned following the accident.

Lopez was thrown from the car. Fire officials and medics performed CPR on him, but he was declared dead at the crash site.

Another individual sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Riverside Community Hospital.

No additional information regarding this crash was released.

An investigation is ongoing.
