Merced County, California (January 18, 2023) – According to a report by the Merced County Coroner’s Office, a woman killed in a Merced County car crash on Wednesday afternoon last week has been identified as 44-year-old Stacy Wiley of Los Banos.

The deadly crash happened at about 3:30 p.m. on January 11 on SR-165, south of Westside Boulevard.

Per the dispatch, a 2003 Honda Accord operated by a 17-year-old girl of Los Banos was heading northbound on SR-65 when she lost control and drove into Stacey’s southbound 2010 Dodge Caliber. The two vehicles ultimately crashed head-on.

The teen was reportedly driving at an unknown rate of speed on the wet SR-65 northbound lanes.

The Dodge rolled over following the accident.

Fire officials and medics rushed to the accident scene to aid the victims. Wiley was flown to Modesto Doctor’s Medical Center, where she was declared dead.

A Honda passenger, Isaac Loreto of Los Banos, was taken to Doctor’s Medical Center to treat severe injuries to his head and upper body. Heidi Garcia, of Los Banos, also riding in the Honda, suffered minor injuries and declined medical aid.

The teen driver suffered severe leg injuries and was taken to Mercy Medical Center.

Police did not believe alcohol and drugs to have contributed to this crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
