Roxanne Fitzsimmons Hurt in Grass Valley Fatal Crash on Highway 49

Grass Valley, California (January 18, 2023) – 70- year-old Roxanne Fitzsimmons was injured in a head-on collision that left a woman dead on Tuesday in Grass Valley.

The accident happened on Highway 49 at La Meadows Road, south of Grass Valley.

An 83-year-old Fair Oaks woman was driving southbound in the left turn lane when, for unknown reasons, she collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle driven by Fitzsimmons.

The woman was trapped in the car and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Fitzsimmons sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

The name of the deceased woman was not disclosed.

The accident resulted in the closure of Highway 49 for about two hours.

No other information about the accident was provided.

CHP is investigating the accident.
