Sergio Quintero Identified as Person Killed in Phoenix Car Crash on 35th Avenue

Phoenix, Arizona (August 14, 2023) – The Phoenix Police Department has identified 20-year-old Sergio De La Torre Quintero as the person killed in a fatal car crash on Sunday morning in Phoenix.

The deadly collision happened at about 6:00 a.m. on August 13, on 35th Avenue and Van Buren Street.

Quintero was heading westbound on Van Buren Street when he did not stop for the red light at 35th Avenue and crashed into a northbound car.

Quintero was declared dead at the crash site.

Three men and a teen girl, all riding in Quintero’s car, were transported to the hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

The other motorist was also hospitalized.

Authorities suspected speed and impairment to have contributed to this collision.

An investigation is underway.
