VinsnowSara Bassett Killed in Toppenish Car Accident on Highway 97
Toppenish, Washington (June 19, 2023) – 38-year-old Sara Basset of Chico was killed after a head-on crash on Sunday morning in Toppenish, Washington.
The Washington State Patrol said the collision occurred at about 11:53 a.m. on June 18, on Highway 97.
Police confirmed Basset was heading southbound in a Ford Fusion when she swerved into the northbound lanes for unknown reasons and slammed head-on into a Chevy Silverado pickup truck.
Basset suffered fatal injuries due to the collision.
Richard Lizotte, 72, the Chevy driver, and his passenger, 76-year-old Cheryl Lizotte of Yakima, suffered injuries and were taken to Multicare Yakima Memorial Hospital.
No additional information concerning this crash was provided.
The incident remains under investigation.
