Rider Killed in Bakersfield Motorcycle Crash at Airport Drive Identified

Gregory Salyer Killed in Bakersfield Motorcycle Accident at Airport Drive and State Road

Bakersfield, California (May 30, 2023) – According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the man killed in a motorcycle crash on Sunday morning in Bakersfield has been identified as 68-year-old Gregory Charles Salyer of Bakersfield.

The collision happened at Airport Drive and State Road at about 11:18 a.m. on May 28.

Police confirmed Salyer was heading westbound on State Road towards the junction in a motorcycle while a motorist was traveling north. The driver did not stop at a red light and crashed into a Salyer’s bike.

Salyer suffered severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed.

The vehicle driver stayed at the crash site and was cooperative.

Police did not suspect impairment to have contributed to the collision.

An investigation is ongoing.
