Raul Gonzalez Dies After Tuscon Car Accident on Campbell Avenue near Drexel Road

Tuscon, California (July 11, 2023) – Police have identified Raul Zepeda Gonzalez, 33, as the person killed in a deadly collision early Sunday morning in Tuscon, according to Arizona Daily Star.

The accident happened at about 2:00 a.m. on July 9 on South Campbell Avenue and East Drexel Road.

Per the report, Julian Anselmo Sosa was driving his Toyota FJ Cruiser on Campbell Avenue at a high rate of speed when he swerved into the northbound lanes and crashed into Gonzalez’s 2021 Nissan Altima.

Gonzalez suffered fatal injuries while a female passenger riding in the passenger seat sustained life-threatening injuries. The passenger was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police confirmed Sosa to be impaired during the collision and swerved between the center divider and curb lanes of Campbell Avenue before the accident. He was booked into the Pima County Jail on suspicion of felony criminal damage, aggravated assault, and manslaughter.
