El Cajon, California (December 21, 2022) – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified Nancy Annette Lisa Benson, 32, of Lemon Grove, as the woman who was killed in a fiery collision early Sunday morning in El Cajon.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident was reported around 4:30 a.m. on Highway 8 at the Second Street off-ramp.
Benson was driving a 2002 Audi TT when she allowed her car to go off the roadway, hit a tree, and then collided with a Honda CRV on the off-ramp to Second Street.
One of the vehicles caught fire after the collision.
Benson suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP said the Honda driver, a 31-year-old man, and a 51-year-old passenger from El Cajon sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
More details about the crash were not provided.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
