Hilmar Man Killed in Merced County Motorcycle Accident at Highway 165 and August Road

Merced County, California (August 24, 2023) – A motorcyclist died in a head-on collision that happened on Wednesday evening in Merced County.

The accident was reported around 10:29 p.m. in the area of Highway 165 and August Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A 35-year-old Hilmar man was riding a 2005 Harley Davidson Motorcycle northbound on Highway 165 when he collided head-on with a southbound 2013 Audi SUV that had drifted into the northbound lanes to pass a semi-truck/trailer combination and pickup truck.

The motorcyclist was killed in the accident.

The 33-year-old Newman woman driving the SUV and her 12-year-old male passenger were unhurt.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the accident.
