Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Phoenix Accident on Interstate 10 near 7th Avenue

Phoenix, Arizona (August 17, 2023) – According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety Troopers, a rider was critically injured following a motorcycle collision on Wednesday afternoon in Phoenix.

The major accident occurred on Interstate 10 near the 7th Avenue exit at about 1:09 p.m. on August 16.

Authorities confirmed two riders ran a red light near Loop 202 and Scottsdale Road. Police pursued one of them on the westbound 10 Freeway but backed off due to weather conditions.

Police later received a call on a rider who had sideswiped an SUV near the 7th Avenue exit.

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. It was not immediately known if the injured rider was the one accused of running a red light.

Police closed 10 Freeway for about three hours for an on-scene investigation.

No additional details concerning the collision were released.

An investigation is ongoing.
