Larry Wheet Killed in Phoenix Pedestrian Crash near 75th Avenue and Thomas Road

Phoenix, Arizona (August 14, 2023) – The Phoenix police officials are investigating a DUI crash that killed 56-year-old Larry Wheet on Sunday night in Phoenix.

The accident happened at about 10:00 p.m. on August 13, near 75th Avenue and Thomas Road.

According to police, Wheet was crossing the street mid-block when a car hit him.

Responding emergency crews took Wheet to the hospital, where he died.

Police later arrested the car driver, 40-year-old James Carter, on suspicion of aggravated DUI.

Two adults and two children were occupants of Carter’s vehicle.

An investigation is underway.
