Hernan Montes-Hernandez Identified as 1 of 5 Killed in Big Rig Accident on 81st Avenue in Thermal

Hernan Montes-Hernandez Killed in Thermal Car Crash on 81st Avenue 

Thermal, California (January 17, 2023) – One of the five people killed in a two-vehicle accident on Saturday evening in Thermal has been identified as Hernan Montes-Hernandez, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

The accident happened a while before 5:15 p.m. on January 14, on 81st Avenue near State Route 86.

As per the dispatch, Volkswagen Jetta and a semi-truck crashed. The Volkswagen was traveling east on 81st Avenue when it failed to stop at the intersection of SR 86 and was hit on the side by a semi-truck heading southbound.

Hernan was a Volkswagen occupant at the time of the accident. 

Five people inside the Volkswagen died in the crash.

No additional information regarding this crash was provided.
