Gildardo Luna Killed in Desert Hot Springs Crash on Indian Canyon Drive

Desert Hot Springs, California (June 29, 2023) – 49- year-old Gildardo Gonzalez Luna of North Carolina has been identified as the man killed in a traffic collision on Wednesday afternoon in Whitewater.

According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the deadly collision happened on Indian Canyon Drive near Highway 62 at about 2:41 p.m. on June 28.

Fire officials said a 2013 Ford Fiesta was heading westbound on North Indian Canyon Drive when it veered into the opposite lanes for unknown reasons and crashed into an oncoming 2007 Honda Civic.

Two persons were trapped in the wreckage and were freed by firefighters.

Luna was declared dead at the crash scene.

The 42-year-old man from Victorville operating the Ford suffered severe injuries and was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center. Police suspected the driver to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and he was later arrested.

No other information concerning this collision was provided.

The incident remains under investigation.
