Deputy Brett Harris Killed in San Jacinto Accident at Esplanade Avenue and State Street

San Jacinto, California (May 15, 2023) – 26-year-old Deputy Brett Harris was killed after a traffic collision early Friday morning in San Jacinto, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision happened at about 2:15 a.m. on May 12 at Esplanade Avenue and State Street.
Per the CHP officials, Harris, a Riverside County Sheriff’s Office deputy assigned to Hemet Sheriff’s Station, was answering a duty call when he crashed into another vehicle at the junction.
Harris suffered critical injuries, including a catastrophic brain injury. He was declared dead at the crash site.
The 56-year-old woman from Hemet, driving the second vehicle, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
A second deputy sustained minor injuries while assisting the crash victims.
