Toddler Killed in Oceanside Pedestrian Crash on San Tomas Drive

Oceanside, California (August 16, 2023) – A toddler was killed after a pedestrian accident on Tuesday afternoon in an Oceanside residential community.

According to the Oceanside Police Department, the accident occurred at about 3:39 p.m. on August 15 in the 3200 block of San Tomas Drive.

Authorities said a 16-month-old boy was walking in the roadway when a 62-year-old resident of Oceanside driving a white Ford F-150 hit him.

Efforts by the medics to save the boy were futile, and he was declared dead at the accident location.

The involved motorist was driving from work to his home in the same neighborhood when the collision happened. He remained at the scene and was cooperative.

Authorities did not suspect impairment or speed to have contributed to the collision.

The incident remains under investigation.
