VinsnowCecilia Villalobos Killed in Whitewater Car Accident on 10 Freeway near Haugen Lehmann Way
Whitewater, California (May 16, 2023) – Authorities have identified 31-year-old Cecilia Villalobos as one of the three persons killed after a traffic collision on Sunday morning in Whitewater.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the violent collision occurred at about 7:27 a.m. on May 14 on Interstate 10 Freeway near Haugen Lehmann Way.
Police said a Chevrolet Suburban and a Tesla Model 3 collided for unknown reasons. Following the crash, the Chevrolet slammed into the median and rolled over.
Nine persons were riding in the Chevrolet, and six were thrown out of the car.
Villalobos was declared dead at the crash site.
A 12-year-old girl and a 10-year-old girl, thrown out of the Chevrolet, also suffered fatal injuries.
A 7-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl were flown to a local trauma center with critical injuries. A 15-year-old boy was transported to the hospital for treatment of severe injuries.
The 39-year-old male Chevrolet driver sustained moderate injuries, while a 41-year-old man in the right front passenger seat suffered minor injuries. The two were hospitalized.
The Tesla driver, a 31-year-old man, was not injured in the accident.
No additional information concerning the incident was provided.
An investigation is ongoing.
