6 Dead, 3 Hurt in Tacoma Crash at Alexander Avenue and State Route 509

Tacoma, Washington (July 17, 2023) – Six people were killed and three others were injured in a two-vehicle collision at an intersection in Tacoma on Sunday morning.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at around 11:17 a.m. at Alexander Avenue and State Route 509.

A white 2021 BMW X7 was traveling northbound on SR-509 while a Kia Hatchback with seven passengers was traveling eastbound on Alexander Avenue.

Both vehicles collided at the intersection in unclear circumstances.

Six people in the Kia were pronounced dead at the scene.

There were two people in the SUV and both were taken to hospital with unspecified injuries.

The names of the victims were not disclosed.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
