VinsnowMan, Woman Killed in Huron Car Accident at Laurel Avenue and Avenal Cutoff Road
Huron, California (May 30, 2023) – A man and a woman were killed and several other people were injured in a two-vehicle crash near Huron on Tuesday afternoon.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident happened at around noon in the area of Laurel Avenue and Avenal Cutoff Road.
Pedro Rosas, 50, of Huron, was driving a 2019 Dodge Ram eastbound on Laurel Avenue when he attempted to make a turn onto southbound Avenal Cutoff Road.
Jess Arrellano, 28, of Avenal, was driving a 2014 Honda heading south on Avenal Cutoff Road when Rosas drove directly into his path.
Arrellano tried to steer left to avoid the crash but he had not enough time to.
The two vehicles collided and a man and woman, both 67, were pronounced dead at the scene.
A 62-year-old female passenger in the Honda suffered major injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.
A 77-year-old male passenger in the Honda was taken to Delta Medical Center with unknown injuries.
Arrellano and Rosas were taken to Adventist Medical Center in Hanford with unspecified injuries, CHP said.
The accident remains under investigation.
