Woman Dies in Bakersfield Car Accident on Highway 65 near Famoso Road

Bakersfield, California (February 14, 2023) – A 53-year-old woman was killed and another person was injured in a DUI collision that happened early Tuesday morning in Bakersfield.

According to California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at around 4 a.m. on Highway 65 near Famoso Road.

William Pederson was driving a Dodge Ram northbound on Highway 65 when, for unknown reasons, he veered into southbound lanes and collided with another vehicle.

A 53-year-old woman was killed in the crash.

Another occupant of the second vehicle was injured and was hospitalized in unknown condition.

Pederson was found to have been driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested.

The name of the deceased woman was not immediately disclosed.

The accident remains under investigation.
