Merced, California (January 21, 2023) – 22-year-old Sinthia Fernandez of San Jose has been identified as the woman killed in a head-on collision on Thursday morning in Merced.

The fatal crash happened on Gurr Road near Shippee Road at around 10:39 a.m.

Fernandez was driving a car southbound on Gurr Road when she drifted into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a truck.

The impact of the collision caused the truck to overturn and land in a canal.

Fernandez was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The 24-year-old man driving the truck suffered minor injuries in the crash.
