P.MarkShayaniMichael Cooper Dies after Tucson Bicycle Crash at Grant Road and Los Altos Avenue
Tucson, Arizona (March 27, 2023) – 65-year-old Michael David Cooper died after being hit by a vehicle on Friday night in Tucson.
According to the Tucson Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of East Grant Road and North Los Altos Avenue near North First Avenue shortly before 9 p.m.
Cooper was riding a bicycle eastbound on North Grant Road when he made a sudden left turn into the way of a Hyundai Elantra.
Cooper was rushed to Banner-University Medical Center with severe injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the Elantra, a 19-year-old man, stopped after the crash and cooperated with the authorities.
Alcohol and drugs did not play a role in the crash, police said.
The accident remains under investigation.
