Jennifer Ellis Dies After Clovis Pedestrian Accident on Minnewawa Avenue

Clovis, California (May 31, 2023) – The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman killed in a pedestrian accident on Monday afternoon near Clovis as 45-year-old Jennifer Ellis of Clovis.
The deadly collision occurred at Minnewawa and International Avenues on May 29 at about 4:30 p.m.
Police said 22-year-old Wallowa Bates was heading east on International Avenue in a red Mercedes at a high rate of speed when he did not stop for a stop sign and slammed into a black Honda heading northbound on Minnewawa.
Following the collision, the two cars went into an open field.
The Honda driver, Ellis, suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the crash site.
Two children, ages 8 and 10, riding in the Honda sustained moderate injuries and were hospitalized.
Bates sustained minor injuries following the accident. Police booked her into the Fresno County Jail.
Authorities did not suspect alcohol and drugs to have contributed to this crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
