Irma Higgins Killed in Crash at Ramona Expressway and Lincoln Avenue in Hemet
Hemet, California (February 17, 2023) – 90-year-old Irma Higgins, of Riverside, was killed in a multi-vehicle collision in Hemet on Wednesday afternoon.
The fatal crash happened at around 2 p.m. at the intersection of Ramona Expressway and Lincoln Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Higgins was riding in a 2020 Chevrolet Spark driven by her 73-year-old daughter who lives in Hemet and were stopped at the intersection.
The vehicle then pulled into the path of a southbound 2000 Nissan Frontier pickup truck driven by a 35-year-old Beaumont man.
The impact of the collision pushed the Chevy into a 2018 Toyota Sienna that was about to make a left turn onto Lincoln Avenue.
Irma Higgins and her daughter were extricated from the vehicle before being airlifted to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley. Sadly, Higgins died while receiving treatment.
The driver of the Nissan and his two children were hospitalized with minor injuries.
