VinsnowGiovanna Rizzo Killed in Winchester Accident on Winchester Road and Keller Road
Winchester, California (June 3, 2023) – According to the California Highway Patrol, 17-year-old Giovanna Rizzo of Murrietta has been identified as the person killed in a two-vehicle collision on Thursday evening in Winchester.
The deadly collision happened a while after 9:00 p.m. on June 1 on Winchester Road and Keller Road.
Police confirmed a GMC Sierra was traveling north on Winchester Road when it ran a red light and broadsided a Nissan Titan operated by an 18-year-old Murrieta man.
The Nissan was traveling east on Keller Road, approaching Winchester Road, at the time of the accident.
Rizzo, the Nissan’s right-front passenger, suffered fatal injuries from the collision.
The Nissan driver and a second passenger, his teen sister, were flown to an area hospital for treatment.
The GMC driver, 30 years, was taken to the hospital with severe injuries.
Authorities did not believe alcohol or drugs to have played a role in the collision but said the preliminary cause was disobeying a traffic signal.
No one was arrested after the collision.
An investigation is ongoing.
