VinsnowEstela Gallegos Killed in Tuscon Accident at Drexel Road and Palo Verde Road
Tuscon, Arizona (June 11, 2023) – According to the Arizona Daily Star, Estela Gallegos, 68, was killed in a traffic collision on Friday evening in Tuscon.
The deadly collision happened at about 5:11 p.m. on June 9 at East Drexel Road and South Palo Verde Road.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Gallegos was traveling eastbound on Drexel Road and entered the junction at Palo Verde Road at a green light. At the same time, 64-year-old Ignacio Pena ran a red light, drove through the junction, and hit Gallego’s vehicle on the driver’s side.
Gallegos was transported to a medical hospital with critical injuries, where he later succumbed.
Pena suffered minor injuries from the collision.
An investigation is ongoing.
