San Joaquin County, California (May 17, 2023) – A woman died in a crash between a big rig and a car on Tuesday morning in San Joaquin County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Highway 88 near Alpine Road.

The big rig was hauling 68 live cattle in its trailer and was traveling westbound on Highway 88 while a Toyota was going northbound on Alpine Road.

The Toyota had stopped at a red light when it turned green and the driver entered the intersection.

At the same time, the big rig was approaching the intersection when the traffic light turned red.

CHP said the big rig slammed into the left side of the Toyota and pinned it under the trailer.

The woman driving the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene.

The big rig driver did not sustain visible injuries and was seen getting out of the vehicle.

Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors in the crash.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
