1 Killed in Walnut Creek Tesla Crash on 680 Freeway near Treat Boulevard

Walnut Creek, California (February 18, 2023) – One person died and five others, including four firefighters, were injured after a Tesla slammed into a fire engine in Walnut Creek early Saturday morning.
The crash happened on the northbound 680 Freeway near Treat Boulevard at around 3:53 a.m., according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
The firefighters were at the scene of an earlier collision when a Tesla crashed into the firetruck.
The Tesla driver was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
A passenger was transported to the hospital in unknown condition.
Four firefighters were injured in the incident and were transported to the hospital where they were treated and released.
Additional details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
