Deputy Hospitalized after San Jacinto Car Crash at Esplanade Avenue and State Street

San Jacinto, California (May 13, 2023) – A Riverside County sheriff’s deputy was injured in a collision early Friday morning in San Jacinto.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at the intersection of Esplanade Avenue and State Street at around 2:15 a.m.

The 26-year-old officer was driving a marked patrol SUV westbound on Esplanade when he collided at the intersection with a Nissan Maxima traveling north on State.

The impact of the collision sent the patrol car off the roadway where it slammed into a light pole.

The deputy sustained major injuries in the crash and was transported to the hospital for treatment in critical condition.

The driver of the Maxima was hospitalized with moderate injuries.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
