Moreno Valley, California (November 15, 2022) – Daniel Jacks Jr., 45, of San Jacinto, and his 20-year-old daughter were killed in a head-on collision that occurred on Sunday night in Moreno Valley.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at around 9 p.m. in the area of Gilman Springs Road and Bridge Street.

Scott Bales, 47, of Moreno Valley, was allegedly driving under the influence when he drifted into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with an oncoming Honda Insight driven by Jacks Jr.

Police say Jacks Jr, who was a Riverside County Corrections deputy, and his daughter, Hannah Jacks, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Bales and his 54-year-old passenger were hospitalized with unspecified injuries.

Bales was later arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, causing death and injury to his passenger.

More details about the crash were not provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
