Concord Man Killed in Livermore Crash on I-580 Identified

Juan Alonso Killed in Livermore Car Accident on I-580 near the First Street

Livermore, California (May 31, 2023) – 21-year-old Juan Moreno Alonso has been identified as a Concord man killed in a multi-vehicle accident early Thursday morning in Livermore.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on May 25 on I-580 near the First Street exit.

Authorities said a Ford F-350 pickup truck was driving at a high rate of speed and was attempting to change lanes when it lost control, crashing into the right passenger door of a Ford Mustang.

The Mustang’s driver, Alonso, was driving in the far left lane of I-580.

The truck was then rear-ended by a Ford Expedition that was passing. According to police, Moreno suffered fatal injuries after the Chevy struck his Mustang.

The Chevy driver broke their ankle and knee due to the collision.

No one else was hurt in the accident.

Police closed all eastbound lanes of 580 Freeway until around 7:00 a.m.
