VinsnowBrandon Reyes Dies in Oceanside Motorcycle Crash on State Route 78 near 5 Freeway
Oceanside, California (August 20, 2023) – The person killed in a crash involving a motorcycle and a car in Oceanside on August 8 has been identified as 29-year-old Brandon Reyes.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident was reported at about 11 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, on State Route 78 at the Highway 5 onramp.
Reyes was riding a 2012 Harley Davidson westbound on SR-78 when he lost control of his motorcycle while making a turn onto the northbound 5 Freeway.
Reyes was then hit by a Mitsubishi Outlander driven by a 69-year-old San Diego man.
The California Highway Patrol says the Mitsubishi driver did not see Reyes and his bike on the road early enough to avoid the crash.
Reyes was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries.
The San Diego man was not injured.
Alcohol and drugs did not play a role in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
