Vinsnow2 Dead, 5 Hospitalized after Yreka Accident on State Route 3 near Forest Mountain Summit
Yreka, California (June 5, 2023) – Two people were killed and five others were injured in a car crash on Saturday night in Yreka.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at around 9:25 p.m. on State Route 3 near Forest Montain Summit.
The accident involved a Ford Pickup truck and a Honda Pilot.
The Ford was traveling downhill on SR-3 when, for unknown reasons, it veered off the road.
The driver tried to swerve back to the road but the vehicle drove into oncoming traffic and collided with the Honda.
The Ford driver and their passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Honda driver and four juvenile passengers were taken to Fairchild Medical Center in Yreka.
CHP said three juveniles and the driver sustained major injuries while one juvenile had minor injuries.
More details about the accident were not provided.
The accident remains under investigation.
