The accident happened on Avenue J at 40th Street West at about 12:30 a.m. according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
A man was driving a Dodge Journey SUV westbound on Avenue J when he crashed into the back of a Ford F-450 Spectrum utility truck that had been stopped at a red light.
The impact of the collision caused the Dodge to roll over and hit another vehicle at the intersection.
The Dodge driver was killed in the crash.
The identity of the deceased person was disclosed pending notification of the family.
The driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries.
Police said speed played a role in the crash.
