1 Killed in DUI Crash at Country Club Drive and Cook Street in Palm Desert

Person Killed in Palm Desert Collision at Country Club Drive and Cook Street, Alberto Lopez Arrested

Palm Desert, California (January 13, 2023) – One person was killed early Friday morning in a DUI crash in Palm Desert.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. at Country Club Drive and Cook Street.

Alberto Lopez, 26, of Coachella was driving a Dodge Durango eastbound at a high speed when he crashed into the back of stopped car at the intersection.

The Cal Fire. Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies from the Palm Desert station responded to the crash and extricated the driver of the car that was hit.

The trapped driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lopez was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio.
