Zip Line Worker Dies While on Duty in San Diego

San Diego, California (November 4, 2021) – 34-year-old Joaquin Romero, of Banning, died after falling while attempting to help a person who had completed a zip line at the La Jolla Indian Campground in San Diego.

Romero was an employee of the La Jolla Indian Campground.

According to authorities, the Banning man was assigned to work the receiving platform of the zip line course on Saturday and fell from the platform when he was attempting to help a customer.

Romero was airlifted to Sharp Memorial Hospital and admitted to the emergency department with multiple blunt force injuries. At the time of arrival, the patient had no pulse and had to be given cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Romero died on Monday while under comfort care after doctors gave him a poor prognosis.
