Yannira Rodriquez Killed in San Diego Crash on 15 Freeway near Aero Drive

San Diego, California (August 30, 2023) – Police have identified Yannira Rodriquez, 32, as the woman killed in a wrong-way collision early Sunday morning in Serra Mesa, San Diego.

The deadly crash happened at around 1:34 a.m. on August 27 on the southbound Interstate 15 Freeway near Aero Drive.

A white Infiniti QX30 was heading north on southbound lanes when it crashed into Rodriquez’s black Honda Fit. Following the crash, the Infiniti slammed into a tan Nissan Altima before coming to a halt.

Responding emergency crews and medics declared Rodriquez dead at the crash site.

A Honda female passenger sustained severe injuries and was hospitalized.

The 25-year-old man from La Mesa, driving the Infiniti, was hospitalized due to the crash.

The 58-year-old driver was not injured in the collision.

Police did not believe drugs and alcohol played a role in the incident.

The crash remains under investigation.
