Woman Killed in Head-On Collision on Highway 299 near Powerhouse Road in Redding
Redding, California (August 14, 2022) – A 25-year-old woman was killed in a collision involving a semi-truck on Saturday morning in Redding.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened on Highway 299 west of Pit. No 1 Powerhouse Road, near Fall River Mills at around 5:05 a.m.
The woman, a resident of Montgomery Creek, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt westbound on the highway when she drifted into the opposite lane and collided head-on with an oncoming 2014 Peterbilt semi-truck towing pulling a flatbed trailer.
The unidentified woman was killed in the accident.
The truck driver, Jose Ramirez, 25, of Corning, and his passenger, Vincent Ramirez, 50, also of Corning, were not injured.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
